The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested a 32-year-old Lugoff man after he allegedly threatened a woman at Joe Jenix Road, Cassatt home.

A KCSO report said deputies were dispatched to the home in response to a domestic dispute and that the female victim said she had locked herself in the bathroom. She said the suspect had broken a window to enter the home.

The woman said the man claimed to have a gun and that deputies “would have their hands full” when they arrived because he would start shooting. The report said the man came out the home when deputies arrived, but had to be subdued with a Taser after he refused commands to drop to the ground and show his hands.

The victim said she and the man do not live together, but do have three children in common.

The KCSO reported the following other incidents during the period of Jan. 27 - Feb. 2:

Someone stole an ATV from a Brookside Lane, Elgin residence. The owner told a deputy that the 2008 Honda Rancher was sitting on a utility trailer and that he had last seen it around 8:30 p.m. the previous day. The victim said that as he left for work around 5:15 a.m. the day of the report, he say the trailer -- without the ATV -- sitting in a neighbor’s yard across the street. Deputies found and photographed a set of footprints in the yard.

Deputies arrested a 25-year-old Rembert man at a DeKalb Street, Camden motel, charging him with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Deputies said they were monitoring activity at the motel when the suspect spotted them and fled on foot. He allegedly threw two cigarette packs over a fence behind the motel. Deputies apprehended him and located the packs, which allegedly contained 3.8 grams of crack cocaine.

Someone stole more than $3,500 worth of goods Jan. 29 from a home on Pate Road while the homeowner was on vacation. According to a report, the owner’s brother was caring for pets in the home and estimated the crime took place between 4 p.m. Jan. 28 and 8 a.m. Jan. 29. The thieves apparently entered by breaking in a rear door. The thieves got away with pieces of jewelry, tools and other items.

Deputies are investigating the theft of a semi trailer from a location on Lachicotte Road in Lugoff. According to a KCSO report, the victim said the 53-foot trailer was last seen around 5:30 p.m. two days earlier. The report said the trailer and its contents are valued at $20,000.

The KCSO also reported 15 thefts, three assaults, 12 burglaries, four shopliftings, nine vandalisms, five incidents of criminal domestic violence, three cases of marijuana possession and one of manufacturing marijuana, three incidents of driving under suspension, one case of harassment, one stalking, two cases of driving under the influence, four disorderly conducts and one open container.

The Camden Police Department (CPD) is investigating a Jan. 31 incident where a Columbia man said he was forced to give his car keys to two African-American men at a DeKalb Street motel.

The man admitted he had been smoking crack for two days at hotel when the men took his keys and his 2003 Ford Taurus. The victim said that when the vehicle hadn’t been returned after two hours, he had a headache and went to a nearby fast food restaurant to call EMS. EMTs took the man to KershawHealth.

Officers said the vehicle was later found in the motel’s parking lot, but the victim said he was too scared to get it, so officers had it towed.

The CPD reported the following other incidents during the period of Jan. 27 - Feb. 2:

Camden officers arrested a 37-year-old man on multiple charges after stopping him for an improper turn and speeding. A report said an officer smelled alcohol on the man’s breath and failed a series of field sobriety tests, leading to his arrest. Officers found a pistol under the man’s car seat as well as many handbags which appeared to be high-end fakes. Officers charged him with counterfeiting, DUI and a weapons law violation in addition to the improper turn and speeding charges.

The Camden Police Department (CPD) also reported four assaults, two shopliftings, one runaway juvenile, two marijuana possession cases, and one case each of theft, drunkenness, no driver’s license and open container.
