The Tax-Aide program originated in 1986 and continues to grow each year.

Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service for individuals with low to moderate incomes, with special attention to persons age 60 or older.

Last year, more than 2 million taxpayers were assisted by trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteers during the February through April tax season.

More than 250 individuals and/or families in the Kershaw County area were helped by this program. Tax-Aide volunteers e-filed more than 98 percent of prepared returns, resulting in speedier refunds and more accurate filing.

If you have a tax return that is not too complex, you could be assisted also.

In the Camden area, the AARP Tax-Aide service is available each Tuesday through Tuesday, April 15.

The tax preparation will be done this year at the Kershaw Baptist Association Building, 14 East DeKalb St. in Camden.

Call 713-9475 to schedule an appointment.

Be sure to bring all documents related to your 2013 income, potential deductions and the Social Security cards for all persons who will be claimed on the tax return.

It will be helpful to bring a copy of last year’s tax return.
