KC teams to play in pre-season events

With the start of the regular season right around the corner, several Kershaw County spring sports teams will get a jump on their campaigns by playing in pre-season tournaments beginning this weekend in baseball, boys’ soccer and girls’ soccer.
The regular season for all county teams will begin on Monday, March 3. A complete schedule for all teams will be included in that day’s C-I.
Here is a look at the pre-season events involving county squads:

Pee Dee Invitational Pre-Season Baseball Tournament: Camden returns to Jimmy White Park at Kelleytown Stadium for this annual event which will also include four teams playing at West Florence High School. The Bulldogs will play all their games at Kelleytown Stadium. The cross-bracket games will also be held in Kelleytown.
Chesterfield, McBee and co-host Hartsville round out Camden’s side of the bracket. The other half includes West Florence, Wilson, Darlington and Trinity-Byrnes.
Here is the complete schedule of games involving Camden:
Saturday, March 1: Chesterfield vs. Camden (Noon)
Monday, March 3: Camden vs. Hartsville (7:30 p.m.)
Wednesday, March 5: Camden vs. McBee (5 p.m.)
Thursday, March 6: Fourth-place finishers from each bracket play at 5 p.m.; Third-place finishers from each bracket play at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 7: Second-place finishers from each bracket play at 5 p.m.; First-place finishers from each bracket play at 7:30 p.m.

Carolina Ale House Classic: The Lugoff-Elgin baseball team will be on the road for three games and will host another in this annual event featuring teams from throughout the Midlands. Mid-Carolina, Ridge View and River Bluff round out L-E’s side of the bracket.
Here is the complete schedule of games involving the Demons:
Saturday, March 1: vs. Mid-Carolina at River Bluff (5:30 p.m.)
Monday, March 3: at Ridge View (6 p.m.)
Thursday, March 6: River Bluff at Optimist Field (6 p.m.)
Saturday, March 8: vs. TBA at Irmo High School (TBA)
 

Mid-Carolina Credit Union Baseball Bash: North Central will host its annual pre-season, four-team tourney in which all contests will be five inning games. The championship tilt will be seven innings. Camden Military Academy, Crestwood and Lewisville will join the host Knights.
Here is the complete schedule of games in Boonetown:
Saturday, March 1: Lewisville vs. Crestwood (10 a.m.); Lewisville vs. Camden Military Academy (Noon); Camden Military Academy vs. Crestwood (1:30 p.m.)
Monday, March 3: North Central vs. Camden Military Academy (5:30 p.m.); North Central vs. Crestwood (7:15 p.m.)
Tuesday, March 4: North Central vs. Lewisville (6 p.m.)
Wednesday, March 5: Rain day for make-up games
Thursday, March 6: Consolation game (5:30 p.m.); Championship game (7 p.m.)

Lugoff-Elgin girls soccer tournament: The Lady Demons kick off pre-season tournament play at home tonight with Andrew Jackson, Indian Land and Lancaster joining the hostesses in the two-day event to be played inside Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.
Here is the complete schedule of matches involving the Lady Demons:
Friday, Feb. 28: Andrew Jackson (5:30 p.m.)
Saturday, March 1: Indian Land (10 a.m.); Lancaster (3:30 p.m.); Tournament championship (6 p.m.)

Northwestern High School boys soccer tournament: The Lugoff-Elgin boys’ soccer team will head to Rock Hill this evening to participate in the three-day Northwestern High School pre-season tournament. Joining the Demons on their side of the bracket will be Rock Hill, Gaffney and Irmo.
Here is the complete schedule of matches involving the Demons:
Friday, Feb. 28: Rock Hill (6 p.m.)
Saturday, March 1: Gaffney (Noon); Irmo (3 p.m.)
Sunday, March 2: TBA

Beat Cancer With a Bat Softball Tournament: For the second time in as many seasons, North Central will join with the Mid-Carolina Credit Union and the UPS Store in Camden to present this tournament which benefits the fight against breast cancer.
The three-day event, which will have Richland Northeast, Ridge View, Cross and York high schools joining the host Lady Knights, will be played on Tuesday, March 4, Thursday, March 6 and finish on Saturday, March 8.
There will be T-shirts on sale with proceeds being turned over to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. Each team will be wearing something pink to show their support for the tournament cause. NCHS is inviting any survivors of this dreaded disease to come out to the tournament and they will be recognized for their bravery and fight against this disease.

Tuesday March 4: Cross vs. Richland Northeast (6 p.m.); Cross vs. North Central (8 p.m.)
Thursday March 6: York High vs. Ridge View (6 p.m); York vs. North Central (8 p.m.)
Saturday March 8: Ridge View vs. North Central (8 a.m.); Cross vs. York (10:15 a.m.); Richland Northeast vs. North Central (12:30 p.m.); York vs. Ridge View (2:45 p.m.); Cross vs. Richland Northeast (5 p.m.); Championship Game (7:15 p.m.)
