Mentor, Pam Spivey, and mentee, Timieja McCaskill Shepherd, spend time together learning about Spivey’s job at the United Way of Kershaw County.

As part of the Safe Schools Healthy Students Grant, the United Way of Kershaw County (UWKC) will host a very special training and workshop session for all present, past or future mentors on Monday at the Chamber of Commerce (Robert Mills Courthouse) located at 607 Broad St., in Camden.

The UWKC is very excited and pleased to announce that national known author and motivational speaker, Earl Suttle, Ph.D. will be the presenter. Community members who are interested in learning more about The Hand in Hand Together Mentoring Program in Kershaw County, should attend this very informative training session from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided! Please contact Margaret Lawhorn, UWKC Mentoring Director, at 432-0951 to make your reservation.

"Volunteering your service can make a strong and positive difference in the life of a child," Lawhorn said. "Mentoring is a proven strategy and we have had great success over the past three years in our elementary and middle schools in Kershaw County."
