Hunters Reaching Out (HRO) is a group of local hunters and nature enthusiasts who are combining efforts to raise money and collect needed items for Food for the Soul. HRO is hosting a wildgame meal March 29 at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Larry Nelson, a member of HRO, explained that the group selected Food for the Soul to benefit from this event, but that "down the road, we will help other charitable organizations." Nelson, an avid hunter and fisherman, said that Matt Moore, host of "Closing the Distance" hunting show, will be the featured speaker at the event.

According to Nelson, Moore will talk about bow hunting, personal hunting stories, shot placement and will have targets on display. Moore will also end his speech by sharing his testimony and discussing what God has done in his life, Nelson said.

Tickets are on sale now and there is a limited number of tickets for the event. Nelson said that on the back of each ticket there is a list of other items needed by Food for the Soul, including paper goods and other non-perishable items. Attendees who bring these items will receive tickets for door prizes.

Nelson said the event was a good opportunity for families to spend a fun evening together. "This is a family-friendly event," he said. "It will be safe and fun. It’s an opportunity to meet Matt Moore, help others, have a good meal and possibly win some prizes. It should be a good time."

To purchase tickets, contact Nelson at 864-940-1233, Russ Hunter at 864-770-3889 or Mark Taylor at 803-513-9999. Adult tickets are $10 and kids’ tickets are $5. Visit the facebook page under "Hunters Reaching Out."
