A private memorial service was held to celebrate the life of James Daniel "Jim" Beck, 71, of Camden. Memorials may be made in Mr. Beck’s memory to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Mr. Beck died Saturday, January 8, 2011. Born in Viroqua, WI, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Mildred Dregne Beck. A retired newspaper executive, Mr. Beck was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Green Bay Packers stockholder.

He is survived by his wife, Judith "Kay" Minor Beck; sons, Robert Beck (Debra) of Laramie, WY and Randall Beck (Rebecca) of Conroe, TX; step-son, Lucky Jurgens of Ocala, FL; step-daughter, Tonya Jurgens of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Amanda Beck of Bloomingdale, IL and Tabitha Borden of S. Elgin, IL, Willy and Jackson Jurgens of Ocala, FL and Cole Jurgens of Springfield, IL; brothers, Gary and Douglas Beck; sisters, Mary Deuchler, Elaine Mullany and Susie Frohling. He was pre-deceased by a stepson, Trevor Jurgens.
