Rest assured that members of the Lugoff-Elgin girls soccer team slept soundly over the weekend.
After having played seven matches in span of six days, the Lady Demons finally received some down time after dividing non-region contests with Rock Hill and White Knoll last week.
On Wednesday, Carl Spoto’s charges defeated Rock Hill, 2-1. One night later, White Knoll left L-E Stadium with a 2-0 victory.
In the win over Rock Hill, the Lady Demons trailed at the break, 1-0, before sophomore forward Whitney Osborne scored both goals to lift the hostesses to a one-goal victory. Sophomore Bobbie Schermbeck and junior Katie Kelly had assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Dena Stanley came up big between the posts in turning aside eight shots from the Bearcats.
Due to a rash of injuries, L-E had just 12 players in uniform in Thursday's loss to White Knoll. Following that setback, the Lady Demons saw their season record evened at 5-5 heading into Tuesday’s Region 4-4A opener with Spring Valley. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.
