Warriors fend off Demons, 3-1

Scoring two goals in the opening 30 minutes of play, visiting left Lugoff-Elgin Stadium with a 3-1 win over the host Demons in a Friday night, non-conference boys’ soccer match.
The visiting Warriors scored their first goal at the 8:10 mark of the first half before carrying a 2-0 lead into the locker room with a goal some 20 minutes later.
Indian Land upped its lead to 3-0 with a score in sixth minute of the second half. The hosts scored their lone goal three minutes later when sophomore winger Ayo Balogun received a swing pass on the right sideline from junior center- midfielder Bradley Hughes. Balogun dribbled toward the goal and drove a curving shot into the corner side netting, past a diving IL keeper.
The visitors outshot the Demons, 15-5, with nine Warrior shots being placed on goal to L-E’s three. Indian Land also had three corner kicks to one for the hosts on the night.
Following Tuesday’s Region 4-4A opener at Spring Valley, the Demons return home and to conference action on Friday when Blythewood comes to Lugoff-Elgin Stadium for a 7 p.m.  match.
