Bobby Horton

A graveside service to honor the life of O. R. "Bobby" Horton, 85, of Cassatt, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Quaker Cemetery in Camden. Lynwood Young will officiate. Memorials may be made in Bobby’s memory to Food for the Soul, 110 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.

O. R. "Bobby" Horton died Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was born in Camden, SC, the son of the late Edith Eddings Horton and Oscar Rush Horton. Bobby was the founder of Horton Tire Company in 1971. He was a salutatorian of his graduation class and was on the 1944 State Champion Football Team. Bobby also served in the US Army.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith Young Horton; son’s, Michael Horton (Carolyn) of Camden, Robby Horton of Camden, Mark Horton (Robin) of Hickory, NC; daughters, Edith Horton of Tybee Island, GA and Susie Switzer (Keith) of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Jr., Sarah, Tal, Justin, Jake, Sam, Natalie, LeeAnn, Emily, Marlee, Robert, Jack, and Jesse; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Anne Pendleton of Camden.

Besides his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his sisters, Fay Fidler and Ollie Chandler.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
