Second Look Charities awards Mildred Yvonne Williams Scholarship

Second Look Charities provides $6,000 yearly in scholarship support to the Foundation Scholars Program at Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC). Two of the recipients are Alice Holmes and Emily Tidwell. Holmes and Tidwell received the Mildred Yvonne Williams Scholarship named in memory of a dedicated Second Look Charities volunteer.

Currently majoring in Engineering Graphics Technology at CCTC, Holmes plans to use the knowledge received through obtaining an associate’s degree to gain employment in her field of study. She would like to continue her education and receive a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field. Holmes has been named to the President’s List at CCTC which signifies her excellent academic performance.

Tidwell is currently majoring in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at CCTC with plans to graduate in August 2014. Upon graduation, she plans to seek employment as a registered nurse in either a women’s or children’s center. She would like to continue her education by pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. One of her long-term goals is to be either a nurse practitioner or certified registered anesthetist. Tidwell is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an honor society of college students showing high academic achievement.
