Bouncing back from a tough one-run loss to Region 4-4A foe Blythewood on Friday, the Lugoff-Elgin softball team took some of their frustrations out on White Knoll on Monday.
Backed by multiple-hit nights from six players, the Lady Demons rolled past the Timberwolves, 12-2, in a non-conference game played in Lexington.
Junior right-hander Erin Blizzard earned the mound win as James Marlow’s charges improved to 8-2 on the season.
Baleigh Lunsford had a 3-for-4 night at the plate for the winners who also received two hits each from Sophia Holland, Delaney Guerrero, Taylor Rawl, Hannah Cole and Dallas Guerrero. Cole had the biggest hit for the guests with a home run while Delaney Guerrero and Rawl each had a triple in the rout.
Demon golfers flatten RNE: Jake Barker shot a 1-under par 35 to lead the Lugoff-Elgin golf team to a 60-stroke 152-212 win over host Richland Northeast in a Region 4-4A golf match played on Monday at the Fort Jackson Country Club.
The win gave Mike Robinson’s squad a 4-1 record on the season while the host Cavaliers fell to 1-4.
After Barker, the Demons received a 38 from Brandon Hill and a 39 from Kelli Murphy. Chandler Walters (40), Trevor Johnston (41) and Ty Morgan (42) rounded out the scoring.
Blythewood trips up Demons: Visiting Blythewood fired 30 shots, putting half of those on goal, in a 6-0 win over host Lugoff-Elgin in a Region 4-4A boys soccer match played last Friday.
BHS scored two first half goals before tacking on four more in the second 40 minutes.
L-E won the jayvee match with a 2-1 win over the Bengals.
