Gary named to All-Region basketball squad

FLORENCE -- Francis Marion University graduate student and Camden native Evrik Gary has been named to the 2014 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Southeast District basketball team. 
Gary was selected to the six-member first-team squad.
Gary averaged 20.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game this past season.  The 6-foot-3, 155-pounder also led the Peach Belt Conference in scoring and ranks 33rd nationally.
He led the conference in three-point shooting percentage (46.9), while ranking second in free throws made (162), fourth in minutes played per game (34.8), fifth in free throw percentage (87.6), 15th in steals, and 16th in assists.
Gary shot 47.1 percent from the floor and scored in double figures 26 times this year with fifteen 20-point games, including five 30-point efforts.
The Patriots ended the 2013-14 season with a 12-15 mark following a last-minute loss to nationally ranked University of Montevallo in the quarterfinals of the PBC Tournament.A four-year starter, his career point total of 1,787 was second-best in FMU history and fourth-best in PBC history. Gary also holds the school career records for three-pointers made and attempted, free throws made, and free throw percentage at 88.0 percent.
Gary, a former All-State performer at Camden High School where he helped lead Ron Mc-Kie’s Bulldogs to the 2008-09 AAA state championship as a senior, was earlier named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team second team.
