Having dispatched of visiting Spring Valley, 5-2, in seven innings, now the Lugoff-Elgin softball team may be able to cast a tiny peak to Thursday’s Region 4-4A showdown with Blythewood.
The Lady Demons improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play with a win over the Vikings. Earlier this season, James Marlow’s troops needed nine innings before beating Spring Valley, 6-4.
Last Friday, L-E used a pair of singles from senior catcher Taylor Rawl, who drove home two runs, scored one and walked to help trigger the offense for the hostesses who received a double and a single from Delaney Guerrero, who also scored a run. Dallas Guerrero enjoyed a 2-for-3 game while crossing the plate once.
That offense helped the four-hit pitching of Erin Blizzard, who improved to 12-1 on the season. The junior right-hander worked a complete game, allowing one earned run while fanning five batters and walking one.
L-E closes a three-game week at Blythewood on Thursday. BHS topped the Lady Demons, 201, in the first meeting between the two sides in a game played at Lady Demon Field on March 21.
