Saturday, Saint Timothy’s Lutheran Church participated in Operation Inasmuch, a day of service celebrated each spring by congregations of Lutheran churches in South Carolina. The effort is inspired by the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 25 that "inasmuch as we serve the least of these we serve Him."

Operation Inasmuch is a movement of churches across America, a "Compassion Revolution," which calls church members to move out of their seats and into the streets to serve their neighbors. Members of St. Timothy’s worked together to improve the grounds at the Community Medical Clinic and New Day on Mill, organize the storage area at Second Look Charities, repaired tables at Christian Community Ministries, painted at the Kershaw County Council on Aging, provided music at Morningside and Pinedale nursing homes and prepared snacks for their teams.

Forty-two participants, from teens to senior citizens, gathered at St. Timothy’s on Saturday to form six service teams. Together, these teams served charities of Kershaw County in an effort of compassion.

The teams, listed by the charity they served, were:

•Community Medical Clinic: Hal Varn (leader); Donna Cox; Bill Duckworth; Harold Fike; Ernest Kinard; Lucy Laufer; Dale LeClair; Robin Marlow; Samantha Studer; Niki Thomas; and Hunter Arrants

•New Day on Mill: Tim Ryan (leader); Elsa Compton; John Cooper; Chuck Cooper; Xan Johnson; Montana Marsh; Lisa McClain; Rena Nord; Todd Nord; Michael Williams; and Joey McClain

•Council on Aging: Barney Ransom (leader); Todd Studer; Michele Studer; and Mason Studer

•Second Look: Nancy Reu (leader); Bonnie Depperman; Bob Graunke; and Judy Nelson

•Morningside/Pinedale: Sandra Cooper (leader); Michelle Williams; Beth Ryan; Juanita Thompson; Sandy Kelly; Jessie Kelly; Brianna Williams; Brianna Dixon; and Marcella Riley

•Pack a Sack: Elva Pitsenbarger (leader); Shelby Kelly; and Shirley Ransom
