Now this is how you end a drought.
Mired in a five-match skid in which they were shut out the final four times out, the Lugoff-Elgin boys’ soccer team broke through in a big way with a 5-1 win over visiting Richland Northeast on Tuesday night at Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.
The victory was the first in five Region 4-4A outings for the host Demons.
Leading 2-0 at intermission, the Demons stayed on the offensive in scoring three second goals to get the win over the Cavaliers.
Sophomore striker Andrew Place had a hat trick for Aaron Taylor’s squad which received two more goals from sophomore wing Ayo Balogun.
Sophomore defenseman Caleb Hall, junior winger Landon Rivers, freshman forward Tommy Larsen, and junior midfield Nathan Fuller each lent an assist. L-E.
The Demons had 19 shots with 11 of those on goal  as compared to RNE’s 16 of which 10 came at L-E freshman keeper Patrick Sigman who turned aside nine shots in a winning effort.
