Lugoff-Elgin tuned up for Thursday’s 4A state softball tournament opener by closing the regular season with a 6-1 road win over Irmo last Friday night.
The victory gave the Lady Demons a 19-3 regular season record and an 8-2 mark in Region 4-4A, good for a second-place finish behind Blythewood.
Junior Erin Blizzard improved to 16-3 with the complete game victory. The right-hander allowed a run on one hit with nine strikeouts on the night.
Taylor Rawl led the offensive attack for James Marlow’s squad as she went 2-for-3 with a walk while scoring twice. Delaney Guerrero also had a pair of hits while scoring twice. Kelly Graham drove in half of her team’s six runs as she collected a hit on the evening.
The Lady Demons will host Hillcrest in Thursday’s 6:30 p.m. 4A Upper State District 3  tournament opener at Lady Demon Field.
