The Boykin Spring Fling horse ride will be held Saturday, May 10 at Red Bank Farm in Boykin.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the South Carolina Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and Historic Camden Revolutionary Park.
Riders are asked to bring green horses, old steadies, ponies and encourage friends, family members, equestrian centers or riding groups to participate. A hot grilled lunch will be served for all riders, guests welcome for $10.
The rider fees are $35 for adults and $25 for those, under the age of 16. All donations are tax-deductible. A negative Coggins will be required and the wearing of helmets and having a cell phone available are strong suggestions. Waivers are required while smoking and alcohol are prohibited.
The format for the event will be the same as last year in that no ride times are established and this is an open trail ride for riders to complete at their leisure between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  No rides will be permitted to leave after 1 p.m. Organizers suggest that earlier start times be used, especially in the event of warm and sunny weather. This is designed to be a relaxing experience in a breathtaking setting. The course will be clearly marked so that everyone arrives back safely.
Organizers pointed out that there will be several new trails this year to include the Wateree River, Deer Hope swamp, ride along Swift Creek, open crop fields of wheat, pine plantations and hardwood forests.
Directions to Red Bank Farm: From Camden, take 521 South to Highway 261. Red Bank Road is approximately three miles on the right. The barn is at the end of the road.
