The Chamber Choir of Kershaw County (CCKC) will present its Spring Concert with guests Helen Walker and the Doby’s Mill Chorus on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County. Accompanying CCKC will be guest violinist David Pazdurski on the Bach Sanctus in D Minor. Also included in the program will be a brilliant Et Resurrexit by Monteverdi, as well as works of Callcott, Gibbons and Vaughan Williams concluding with songs of America: Folk, Broadway and Gospel. The CCKC is directed by Dr. Susan Wyatt. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The CCKC is a result of the evolution of the concert choirs of Kershaw County, which featured a Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Boys’ Choir and Girls’ Choir. These groups have toured the United States, performing in New Orleans; New York City; and Washington, D.C., among other notable cities. Most recently they appeared in Lexington in the Light the Way Concert Series to benefit the homeless. In addition, Wyatt’s groups have performed in the Governor’s Carolighting which is a televised statewide event and numerous choral festivals.

The concert choirs of Kershaw County were begun in 1991 as the result of a grant from the Upton Foundation and the wish of Mary Ellen Jordan, Julia Halford, Susan Harper and others to share choral music with the children of Kershaw County. The CCKC is comprised of some of Kershaw County's best singers and musicians age 11 and up.
