It’s not a definite “yes” yet, but it looks like there’s a better possibility than ever that Chick-fil-A will come to Camden.

Camden City Planner Shawn Putnam said the restaurant chain is in preliminary discussions with the city regarding zoning and land development requirements.

“They’ve been asking questions like ‘in this zoning district, is this allowed; in that zoning district, is that allowed?’ but we haven’t seen any plans,” said Putnam.

Putnam said the one thing he does know is that Chick-fil-A is looking to locate somewhere near Walmart and Kmart on West DeKalb Street near the Wateree River.

“But they haven’t made any decision yet,” Putnam said. “I think they’re looking at water, sewer and annexation questions. We haven’t received an annexation petition or a land development application at this point.”

Calls to Brenda Green, Chick-fil-A’s senior public relations coordinator in Atlanta, were not returned.
