John W. McLain, Jr.

July 5, 1933 – May 10, 2014

John W. McLain, Jr., 80, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday. Mr. McLain worked as an Electrical Engineer at SCI for a number of years, and later retired from Chrysler. After retiring, he enjoyed his hobbies of photography and genealogy and was an avid sailor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Perkins McLain, his parents, John Wesley and Daisy Ruth McLain, and sisters, Evelyn Ponder, Lucille Shaw and Aleese Schwalm.

Survivors include his friend and former wife, Merle Delaney McLain; children, Ronald Smith and wife, Vicki of Lacey’s Spring, AL, Natalie Smith of Huntsville, AL, John Wesley McLain III of Round Rock, TX and Marcus Delaney McLain and wife, Claudia, of El Paso, TX; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Cassidy of Baton Rouge, LA and Carolyn Woolnough of Huntsville, AL; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will immediately follow in the chapel. (www.laughlinservice.com)
