Youth finish tourney, polo match on weekend docket

The 31st annual Take a Child Fishing Bass Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 17 at Clearwater Cove Marina on Lake Wateree.
Boats, which will have one adult and a youth angler 16 or under, can take to the water at 6:30 a.m. from any location on the lake. Weigh-in will begin at noon at Clearwater Cove Marina. There is a five-fish limit per boat with a 14-inch minimum weigh-in length. Trolling, cane poles and live bait are prohibited.
The entry fee is $30 per two-person team. Registration will also take place the day of the event at Clearwater Cove Marina until 6:30 a.m. Call Bill Childers at (803) 669-9505 for more information.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 finishing teams while there will also be awards presented to big fish winners. Expenses resulting from the holding of the tournament must be paid from prize money. The remainder will be awarded to the winners.
Aberdeen Polo on tap for Sunday:  Polo returns to the historic Camden Polo Field with the playing of the Aberdeen Polo Match on Sunday, May 18.
The horses and riders will take to field for the first of six, seven and a half minute chukkers at 1 p.m. The gates to the field open at 11 a.m.
Fans are invited to take to the field after each chukker to replace and repair the divots.
The match, pitting a pair of four-player teams, is being sponsored by The Camden Horse and Equestrian magazine, Celebrations, classicallycarolina.com and Traders of Camden.
Here are the ticket options for the Aberdeen Polo match:
General Admission: $15 each (includes general parking space) with youngsters age six and under being admitted free of charge. Cars should enter on Greene Street and will be directed into the general parking lot.
Reserved Field Side Tailgate Space: $100 includes two general admission tickets.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate or today at the Chronicle-Independent office at 909 West DeKalb Street in Camden.
The event will be held, rain or shine, and no refunds will be given.
