Summer Junior

Tennis League

The Summer Junior Tennis League begins on June 16 and will run until July 14 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for eight lessons at the Scott Park Tennis Courts. The camp is for ages 8 to 16.

Must pre-register in advance by June 4, 2014

Equipment will be available for use.

Swim Lessons

Private Swim lessons are student and teacher only. The student will be taught on the level needed.

Group Lessons are 3 to 6 students per class. At least 3 students need to be registered for the class to be held. Group lessons are $55 for eight lessons / Mon. – Thurs. (2 weeks). Private lessons are $50 for 4 lessons / Mon. – Thurs. (1 week)

Registration for all lessons are held at the Parks & Recreation Department Office, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sign-ups will continue until 4:00 pm on the Thursday before the beginning of the session

No transfers after the Thursday before the lesson starts on Monday.

No makeup lessons or refunds will be given unless lesson is canceled as a result of threatening weather or error on the part of the facility.

 

Horse Riding Camp

or Lessons

Summer horse camp sessions or lessons are available through the Recreation Department. Linda Klein is the instructor. There are also all levels of classes offered for those who would like to take group or individual lessons. These classes meet one day a week for four weeks and the cost is $100. Participants will become acquainted with the horse through grooming, tacking, and leading in the first level, working their way steadily towards jumping, horse show etiquette, conformation and rules of the show ring in higher levels.

DATES/HOURS: (Beginners) May 26 - August 1 (each week) / 8:30 a.m. - Noon

Except - June 9 – 13 (Advanced) Monday through Friday

LOCATION: Voxton Farm, Camden

AGES: 6 - 18 years old

COST: $150

You may attend your choice of half-day camp at $150 a week or all-day camp (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) at $275 a week, or an overnight camp for $375. Registration one week in advance.

Sports Fun Camp

Boys & Girls learn basic fundamentals of baseball, soccer, basketball and football in this day camp. They will also play fun games such as kickball, volleyball, frisbee golf, table tennis, and horseshoes. Skill development, competition, team work and fun are the main objectives. Coaches Homer Carraway and April Garner will instruct the campers. Snacks are provided but camper must bring a bag lunch.

DATES/HOURS: June 2 – 6, Monday through Friday / 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

LOCATION: Recreation Department, Big Room

AGES: 6 - 12 years old

COST: $60 ($5 reduction for each additional child)

L-E Baseball Camp

Beginners through advanced players are welcome to attend. Learn the fundamentals or improve your skills. Instructing the camp will be Randy Stokes, Lugoff-Elgin High Varsity Baseball Coach with local players assisting.

DATES/HOURS: June 2 - 4, Monday through Wednesday / 9 a.m. – Noon

LOCATION: Lugoff-Elgin High School Baseball field, Hwy. 1 Lugoff

AGES: 7 - 13 years old

COST: $45 ($5 reduction for each additional child)

Cheerleading Camp

Instructing the camp will be the Camden High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders. Girls ages

4 - 8 will learn cheer and girls ages 9 - 12 will learn dance.

DATES/HOURS: June 3 - 5, Tuesday through Thursday / 9:00 A.M. - Noon

LOCATION: Camden High School Gym, Ehrenclou Drive, Camden

AGES: 4 - 12 years old

COST: $45 (includes t-shirt)

Pre-registration required by May 28.

Baseball Camp

Learn the fundamentals of baseball or improve your skills in this camp. Daily training sessions will include hitting, base running, sliding and all aspects of defense. Campers will get one-on-one instruction.

Coach Denny Beckley of Camden High School Baseball and high school players will be instructing.

DATES/HOURS: June 9 - June 13, Monday through Friday / 9 a.m. – Noon

LOCATION: Legion Park, Ehrenclou Drive

AGES: 6 - 13 years old

COST: $60 (includes t-shirt) ($10 reduction for 2 or more children)

L-E Volleyball Camp

This camp is for beginners through intermediate players. Beginners will focus on skill development and

work toward game play. Intermediate players will refine their skills and work on more advanced team

concepts. Players will be grouped by skill level. Instructing the camp will be Jessica Mullins, Lugoff-

Elgin High Varsity Coach with coaching staff and high school players assisting.

DATES/HOURS: June 9 - 13, Monday through Friday / 9 a.m. – Noon

LOCATION: Lugoff-Elgin High School

AGES: 9 - 14 years old

COST: $60 (includes t-shirt) $5 reduction for each additional child

Summer Playground

Program

Boys & Girls ages 5-12 are invited to participate in our summer playground program. Playground programs are offered free of charge and include a variety of activities. There will be games, crafts, outside activities and more. Free lunches are provided by the United Way and the USDA Summer Food Program at most sites. Children MUST be registered by an adult on the first day they attend.

Birth certificates may be required for proof of age. Supervisors will be on duty on these dates and sites in the county.

Camps will not meet June 30 - July 4.

Etiquette Camp

Campers will master over 50 different etiquette skills including table manners, proper introductions, telephone manners, dealing with teasing and bullying, being a guest and much, much more! This will be accomplished through the use of music, games, stories, treats, role play and discussions. Campers will take home a t-shirt and other great Etiquette Factory items.

DATES/HOURS: June 9 - 12 and July 21 - 24, Monday through Thursday / 9 a.m. - Noon

LOCATION: Recreation Department Building, Small Room

AGES: 6 - 10 years old

COST: $85.00

Pre-registration Required by June 4 and July 16

 

Little Bulldog

Football Camp

Learn the fundamentals of football and improve your skills in this camp. Daily training sessions will include all aspects of defense and offense. Instructing the camp will be the Camden High Football Staff and Varsity Players. No football equipment needed. Campers are asked to wear cleats and bring a water bottle. The camp is sponsored by Vonnie Holliday, a former Camden High School and NFL standout.

DATES/HOURS: June 23 - 27, Monday through Friday / 9 a.m. - Noon

LOCATION: Camden High School, Ehrenclou Drive, Camden

AGES: 7- 14 years old

COST: $35 per child

Pre-registration Required by June 18

Camp Sun Fun

Each year the Recreation Department and the United Way of Kershaw County sponsor a day camp for the developmentally disabled individuals ages 6 to 21. Activities include arts and crafts, nature study, active and passive games, swimming, dance and rhythm, field trips and more. Free lunches are provided by the United Way and the USDA Summer Food Program. Interested individuals should call the Recreation Department for more details.

DATES/HOURS: June 30 – July 11 (not July 4) /Monday through Friday

8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Recreation Department, Big Room

AGES: 6 - 21 years old

COST: $40 one week, $75 two weeks

Pre-registration Required by June 13

Creative Art Camp

Join Derek Napper and assistants for three days of creative fun. Participants will experience a variety of art forms and will be able to take home several pieces of their own artwork. Students will create drawings, paintings, and a variety of craft projects. Materials will be provided.

DATES/HOURS: July 14 – 16, Monday through Wednesday / 9 a.m. - Noon

LOCATION: Recreation Department, Small Room

AGES: 6 - 12 years old

COST: $45 per child
