The public is invited to attend a forum for the candidates running for the office of State Superintendent of Education on Thursday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Camden High School auditorium.

Sponsored by the Kershaw County Teacher Forum and the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce, the forum allows voters to hear directly from persons who are interested in overseeing the State Department of Education as well as supervising all public school funds provided by state and federal governments.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to our community,” said Kershaw County Teacher Forum Chairperson Nicole Schnibben.

“The State Superintendent is an important position and with so many candidates on the ballot, it can difficult to get a sense of each one.  This forum will allow voters to become better informed.”

All 13 candidates running for the position have been invited. To date, the following have indicated that they will attend: Gary Burgess, Charmeka Childs, Sheila Gallagher, Don Jordan, Ed Murray, Molly Spearman and Tom Thompson.
