Funeral services with full military rites to celebrate the life of CW4 Robert John Rea, US Army, Retd, 77 of Lugoff will be held Monday, January 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Beaufort National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 4:00 til 6:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mr. Rea’s memory to Hidden Wounds, 4840 Forest Drive, Ste 6B, #317, Columbia, SC 29206.

CW4 Rea, widower of Verna Dillon Rea, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Stewart and Florence Rice Rea. He was a CW4 Retd US Army veteran having served two tours in Korea and three tours in Vietnam.

Surviving are his sons, Robert Rea and his wife Diane of Lugoff, David Rea of Sumter, John Rea and his wife Stacey of Walterboro; daughters, Kathleen Rea of Altamonte Springs, FL, Barbara Burton and her husband Gerald of Greenwood, Laura Rea of Easley, Col. Maria Gervais and her husband, LTC Christopher Gervais of Baghdad, Iraq, Gina R. Williams and her husband Bill of Cross Hill, SC; grandchildren, William Dudley, Lauren Rea, Brandi Gervais, PFC David Haynie and his wife Nancy, Michael Rea, Ashley Rea, Jennifer Johnson, Joy Pack, Jean Merritts, Alexis Rea, Kelly Rea, Desmond Meritts, Danielle Merritts; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ben Johnson, Cody Howard, Bobby Lee, III and Amber Rea Pack; a great-great-grandson  Jameson  Merritts; sister, Virginia Nieft and her husband Ed, of Port Charlotte, FL. He was predeceased by a son Stewart Rea and grandson, Robert John Rea, II.

Kornegay Funeral Home-Lugoff-Elgin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
