Memorial service to celebrate the life of Carl Edward Huggins, 86, of Cassatt will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Hermitage Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Condy Richardson will officiate. The burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1PM – 2 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorials may be made in Mr. Huggins’s memory to Hermitage Baptist Church, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Camden, SC 29020.

Mr. Huggins died, Friday, January 14, 2011. Born in Grafton, WV, he was the son of the late Carl C. Huggins and Ruth McKown Huggins. He was a retired US Navy veteran having served on the USS Blenny in WWII and the USS Rolk in the Korean War. He spent 22 years in submarines. Mr. Huggins was a life time member of the VFW and American Legion James Leroy Belk Post 17. He was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife Maureen H. Huggins, son, Carl Edward Huggins, Jr. of Vancouver, WA.; step-children, Angela Norris, Linda Harper both of Camden, Milton Harper of Elgin, Clinton Harper of Camden and Dale Harper of Cassatt; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Diana Ross and a brother Ralph C. Huggins.
