Mr. William Roger Roether, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.  Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel is assisting the family.

Born in Celina, Ohio he was a son of the late Lee and Maxine Roether. He was a graduate of Neptune High School and worked with the Auxiliary Highway Patrol of Ohio.  He was a member of the Neptune First Church of God in which he served as an usher.  He was part of the Explosive Ordinance Device Team in the United States Army.  “Bud” had a serious sweet tooth, he would wave and talk to anyone friend or stranger.  He loved every episode of Mayberry RFD whether it was the first or the millionth time he watched the episode.  Bud enjoyed being outdoors watching the wildlife and never met an animal he didn’t try to make his friend.  He was a farm machinery mechanic and worked tirelessly to help farmers keep their equipment in top condition.  He never asked for a thank you but received much adulation from his customers.  He was a loving and loyal husband and devoted to his family.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Delores Roether; sons and daughters-in-law, Dana Roether and wife Diana of Ada, Ohio and Darrell Roether of Columbia, SC; daughters and son-in-laws, Diana Orick and husband Terry of Celina, Ohio, Denise Gunter and husband Steve of Blythewood, SC; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, David Roether.
