Rachel Castell, formerly of Lugoff-Elgin High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and swimming pursuits at NCAA Division II Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
Castell’s dedication to swimming has resulted in continuous membership on year-around swim teams since 2002. This included swim teams in Columbia and Charlotte. Rachel was also an active member of the Kershaw County Swim Team from 2001 through 2011, and received her sports letter as Lugoff-Elgin High School’s only swim team member for the 2009 through 2011 seasons.
Castell transferred to Providence High School in Charlotte in 2011 and participated on the Providence Panthers swim team where she lettered for two seasons. She is looking forward to starting her college career as one of the Rollins Tars under head coach Richard Morris.
The daughter of Wendy and Curt Castell, Rachel plans to major in Biology and study pre-med at Rollins.
