KC National closes in on district title

All that is standing in the way of the Kershaw County Dixie Darling National All-Stars and a trip to next week’s Dixie Softball State Tournament is one victory.
The West Wateree-based squad of eight-year-old and under girls has had their way in the district tournament in Chester in having eased to a pair of wins in their first two contests.
In last Friday’s opening round contest, Dean Branham’s troops breezed past host Chester, 23-2, to advance to the winners’ bracket contest on Saturday. In that game, KC National defeated Kershaw County American, from Camden, 28-7 to earn a bye into Tuesday evening’s scheduled district tourney finale against Jefferson at 8 p.m..
The winner of the Chester regional will represent the district in the Dixie Softball State Tournament which will be played in Dillon with the opening day of competition set for Saturday, July 5.
