Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Lt. Steve Knafelc graduated from the 255th Session of the FBI (FBI) National Academy on June 13. In a ceremony held at the FBI academy in Quantico, Va., Knafelc graduated along with law enforcement officials from the District of Columbia, 17 countries, six military organizations and five federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program is a 10-week course consisting of advanced investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers having a proven record of professionalism at their respective agencies.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews nominated Knafelc to attend the prestigious program.

“I nominated Lt. Knafelc to be considered for this training because of his professionalism, work ethic, academic background and dedication to his job,” Matthews said. “I was confident he would successfully complete this difficult program. I’m glad he is back.”
