KC all-star squads come up short in tourney finales

Bishopville knocked Kershaw County West from Dixie Youth Baseball Ozone sub-district tournament play with an 8-4 win over the West Wateree-based squad in Monday’s championship contest played in Darlington.
Both KC West losses in the double-elimination tournament came at the hands of Bishopville which topped KC West, 9-4, last Saturday.
KC National opened tournament competition in Darlington by edging Lamar, 2-1, in last Thursday’s opening round. A loss to KC West in round two sent the Nationals into an elimination game against Darlington which was won by the event hosts, 12-6.
KC East All-Stars come up short in finale: Hartsville National ended Kershaw County East’s run in the Coaches Pitch (7-8-year-olds) district tournament championship game played in Cheraw.
KC East finished with a 3-2 record in its first foray into post-season all-star competition.
KC National Dixie Darlings fall in district tourney: The Kershaw County National Dixie Darlings All-Stars advanced into the championship bracket of the district tournament in Chester with a 17-13 win over Jefferson to give Dean Branham’s charges a 3-0 record heading into weekend play.
The West Wateree-based squad of 8-and under girls punched their ticket into the championship round with a 5-4 victory over Lancaster last Thursday. One night later, Jefferson swept a pair of games from KC National to advance to the state tournament which kicks off in Dillon on Saturday, July 5.
