KC squads travel to Friday scrimmages

After one week of going up against only their own teammates, all three Kershaw County high school varsity football teams will get to see new faces in different jerseys with a trio of scrimmages set up for today.
Camden High will head to the campus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg this morning to meet Fort Dorcester in a 9 a.m. scrimmage. At 10 a.m. this morning, North Central will pack the buses and travel to Lamar for a 10 a.m. scrimmage.
Tonight, Lugoff-Elgin will head up Highway 1 for a 6 p.m. scrimmage with Cheraw.
Scrimmage action continues next Tuesday with all three of the local entries hosting contests. Camden will bring in Central and Lamar for a three-team scrimmage at Zemp Stadium while Lugoff-Elgin welcomes Hartsville with North Central taking on Cardinal Newman in Boonetown. All three scrimmages start at 6 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
Next Friday, CHS, L-E and NC will play in the 39th annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree which will be contested Zemp Stadium in Camden with the first of the four mini-games kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
