A Lexington man died Thursday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Lugoff. Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers said Steven Wayne Brabham, 43, died from blunt force trauma to the head as a result of the crash. The S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported Brabham was not wearing a helmet.

SCHP Cpl. Sonny Collins said Brabham was riding northbound on a 2007 Honda motorcycle on U.S. 601 and struck a pickup truck driven by Travis Parker, 41, as Parker was crossing U.S. 1 southbound from Rocky Top Road onto Lachicotte Road. The accident happened at noon, Collins said.

Lugoff Fire-Rescue responded to the accident scene. Chief Dennis Ray said his personnel helped land a medical helicopter, but that Brabham ended up being taken to KershawHealth by ambulance.

“The helicopter crew rode in the ambulance to the hospital,” Ray said.

The SCHP said Parker was not injured in the collision and no charges had been filed.
