Alan Harley Palmer, Sr.

Alan Harley Palmer, Sr., 80, of Dalzell, SC, widower of Jean Wheaton Palmer, died Monday, August 11, 2014. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Alan’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

He was born in Corning, NY on May 31, 1934, the son of the late Carlton Lorraine and Dorothy Borden Scouten Palmer. He attended Dalzell Baptist Church and was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Hornell, NY.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Moore of Dalzell, Carol McChesney of Lugoff, and Lora Penfield of Tampa, FL; sons, Alan Palmer, Jr. of Hornell, NY, Joseph Palmer and Andrew Palmer, both of Somerset, KY; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Holter; and brothers, Carlton L. Palmer, Jr. and Gary L. Palmer.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is assisting the family.
