Thursday marked a special day for Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) students. Not only did they beat their Thursday morning goal of raising $5,000 for the United Way of Kershaw County (they raised $5,300), they got to see cheerleaders, ball players and the L-EHS Demon mascot douse Principal Worth Thomasson not once, but three times with ice cold water for their efforts.

“Most  of the challenges I have seen, you get the water dumped on you all at one time. So for it to happen twice then three times, it was quite an experience,” Thomasson said.

The fundraising campaign is part of the annual rivalry/partnership with Camden High School to see which school could raise the most money for the United Way by Friday night’s Mid-Carolina Credit Union Kickoff Classic.

The C-I will report on who won ... the fundraising challenge, that is, in Wednesday’s edition.
