Demon nickname and cheerleader uniforms

When I was told about the “Demon Nickname” article in Friday’s paper, I was upset when I read the article. I was mad. Oh, by the way my daughter is a cheerleader.

I don’t know who Sarah Bearden is, and don’t really care; if she wants to work on kids dress codes, then work on getting boys to pull their pants back up to their waistline. I don’t know when the last time she saw a basketball game, but most of the uniform shorts (girls’ and boys’) they wear are almost down to their ankles. If you go back 40 years, when I played BB, they looked more like hot pants .

I realize the cheerleaders’ outfits are short, but they are cheerleaders -- that’s the kind of outfits they wear. Are we going to put all of our students who play sports in snowsuits so they won’t look like hookers on the field or the court?

I think the school board should just start screening the people they let in the meetings. I’m not sure what would make someone like Sarah Bearden say something like that. Maybe she wasn’t thinking clearly, or maybe she just had a brain freeze. There are better ways to express concern about school uniforms and not call high school cheerleaders hookers.

I thought I killed a lot of brain cells in college in just two years; she must have gone for her PhD. Word to the school board: now we know what she looks like -- lock the door.
