L-EMS, L-E High wrestlers post strong tourney showings

Three Lugoff-Elgin Middle School and two Lugoff-Elgin High school wrestlers returned from this past weekend’s Foothills Fury Preseason Opener with top four finishes in their respective weight divisions.
The event was held at Elkin (N.C.) High School.
Cameron Hunter, an eighth-grader, won the 125-pound middle school weight class. Leopard teammates Tyler Jackson, an eighth-grader, finished third at 115 pounds while Jah’Zaievia Portee, a seventh-grader, took fourth at 90 pounds.
In the high school portion of the event, L-E freshman Devin Wilson won the 106-pound title while Demon sophomore Taylor Catoe came in second at 132 pounds.
Another Demon wrestler, sophomore Noah North, placed in the top eight at a weekend tournament held in Eden, N.C. The event was a Super-32 qualifier.
