Second graders at Pine Tree Hill Elementary School participated in a project-based learning experience about their local community.

Teachers encouraged students to visit, observe, research and recreate local buildings and landmarks of the city of Camden. Students then assembled the projects to represent the community as a whole. Other grade levels as well as community members took a self-guided tour of the projects. Students displayed their knowledge of the community as well as their willingness to become active and involved citizens.

Among those that visited were Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan, Camden Mayor Tony Scully, and Camden Police Department Capt. Mike Stone.
