Camden Elementary, Camden High and Camden Military Academy celebrate Veterans Day by honoring vets

Camden Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 10. Students honored veterans starting with a breakfast at 8 a.m. Afterwards, veterans were honored with a program which included singing by 4th graders and special guest speakers, including retired Army Maj. Gen. Juilan Burns, retired Marine Corps Capt. George Gibson and retired Army Sgt. Ramon Guitard, a Purple Heart recipient.

Also at the program, 100 boxes of gifts for soldiers in Afghanistan that first graders supplied for the Shoebox for Soldiers Project were placed on stage. The Camden High JROTC and band, as well as Camden Military Academy cadets performed at the James Leroy Belk American Legion Post 17 on Nov. 11.
