Santa arrives during a previous tour of Lugoff neighborhoods.

Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) will escort Santa Claus through the neighborhoods of Lugoff again this year. Santa will go through different areas of the Lugoff community each night. LF-R Chief Dennis Ray said firefighters enjoy this event each year so children can have the opportunity to see the “Jolly One” before he comes on Christmas Eve.

LF-R, with funding donated by Lugoff firefighters, has hosted the event as requested year after year by many members of the community. Many kids sit out on the front lawns of their homes watching for Santa to arrive on the fire truck.

Parents can call the LF-R at (803) 438-2553 to find out what day Santa will visit their neighborhood. The tentative schedule, weather and staff permitting, is:

Monday, Dec. 15: U.S. 601 area and U.S. 1/Pepperidge area

Tuesday, Dec. 16: Boulware Road Area and Conifer Acres area

Thursday, Dec. 18: Ward/Lachicotte Road area and U.S. 1 South-Pine Mark/Four Seasons area

Friday, Dec. 19: Ridgeway Road/S.C. 34 area and Pine Grove Road area

Saturday, Dec. 20: Make-up Day for areas missed

Santa will ride through each neighborhood on a fire engine from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly. Engine drivers will have the red lights activated on the fire truck and carefully use the siren horn to let residents know Santa is riding through. The full schedule is also posted on the LF-R’s website,
