Letters: Young reader recounts ‘best toy’

It would be very difficult to name all of my favorite toys of my past, but the ones that really stick out upon the rest are the ones that didn’t come from Walmart, Target or any other store.

It wasn’t a gift given at Christmas or a birthday. The toys I am referring to are simply ideas given from the head above! For example, my little sister and I carved a space ship out of a cardboard box and decorated it with red, blue and yellow buttons. Then we made an Indian village, which used all of my mother’s spare sheets, pillows and blankets and covered the entire living room.

They might seem like the simplest toys, but the memories that were made couldn’t be placed on a shelf or bought with a price tag.

So, while you are shopping for Barbies, toy blocks and other items, keep in mind that toys do not always need to be ones that are purchased, scanned and sold!
