As the councilman representing District 4 for Kershaw County Council, I emphatically support Brad Hanley for Elgin Town Council.

Mr. Hanley has served on Elgin’s planning and zoning commission, several terms on council, as mayor pro tem and as mayor. During his tenure, Elgin Town Hall was renovated when the Blaney Fire Department relocated and, with the renovations, the added areas of the Elgin Police Department, municipal courtroom/council chambers and a new lobby. He oversaw the Potter Community Park project, Elgin Military Salute project and Groom’s Garden at the Elgin library. He went before council requesting crossing guards for Blaney Elementary and Stover Middle schools, so the Elgin Police Department could focus on the needs of the community.

Mr. Hanley worked with Chief Harold Brown to accomplish the following: hired a full-time administrator for the department; purchased an additional vehicle for the department to remedy the aging fleet; procured new computers and a server for the department; and worked on a grant for a new police communication upgrade with radios.

He also established a new website for the town of Elgin, which allows public access to information for meeting agendas, meeting minutes, calendar of events, blogs and contact information for all the representatives of the town.

I vigorously support his campaign for Elgin Town Council.
