Lugoff-Elgin will play host to the first two rounds of the class 4A Upper State tournament which begins on Saturday, Feb. 5 at noon.

The Demons, the Region 4-4A champion, will host Spartanburg, the fourth-place finisher from Region 3, in round one. At the same time, Dorman, the Region 2 runner-up, will meet Woodmont, third-place finisher from Region 1. Both matches will start at noon, on opposite mats inside L-E’s Demons Den.

The two winners of the first round pairings will then square off in the second round, set to start a half hour after the completion of the first round contests with the winner moving on in the playoffs.

Should L-E win two matches on Saturday, it will have home mat advantage throughout the Upper State playoffs, which continues with third round action on Monday, Feb. 7. The 4A Upper State championship match is set for Wednesday Feb. 9.

The Demons are one of four region champions who will host the first two rounds of the post-season. Joining L-E will be Region 2 champion and top-ranked Hillcrest, which is on the opposite side of the Demons’ Upper State bracket, and Region 3 titlist Rock Hill, which is on L-E’s side of the bracket. The other host will be Region 1 champion, Laurens.

The 4A state championship will be held Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Dreher High School.
