Camden High School (CHS) students and staff and others in the community are mourning the unexpected death of 16-year-old Lomar Clark, a CHS student who was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Friday, apparently while on his way to school.

Details about the accident were few as of press time Friday. Kershaw County Coroner David West said the crash happened on Precipice Road near S.C. 34 southeast of Camden. West said Clark was transported to Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, where he was pronounced dead.

West said the cause of death was blunt force trauma injuries received in the accident, and that no autopsy is scheduled. The S.C. Highway Patrol had not returned messages seeking further information about the accident by deadline Friday.
