Camden City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to receive comments regarding the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) mandated wastewater treatment plant the city must build by August 2012.

The hearing will be held near the beginning of council’s meeting Tuesday, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda are two resolutions, both to approve the purchases of property by the city. The first resolution would allow the city to spend $4,448 and an unspecified “gift” to purchase a 50-by-50-foot parcel of property from Dilmar Oil Co. on U.S. 521 near I-20. The parcel would be used to build a new sewer lift station to replace one located behind Dilmar’s property.

The second resolution would allow the city to purchase a 25-by-30-foot piece of property on Roscoe Avenue -- the short road between Camden City Hall and the city’s parking lot off Lyttleton Street. The city would spend $3,500 to purchase the small parcel from Subham Hospitality LLC, owners of neighboring Deluxe Inn on DeKalb Street.

In the resolution, the city says it wants to purchase the small lot in order to upgrade the configuration of an electrical service line adjacent to city hall.

Council discussed Tuesday’s proposed agenda during a work session Thursday. During that work session, council also received reports on and/or discussed:

• its proposed Fiscal Year 2012 budget calendar;

• a review of city board and commissions;

• replacement trees being planted under the city’s hazardous tree grant program;

• a letter sent to the S.C. Department of Transportation asking for assistance with truck turnovers at the intersection of West DeKalb Street and Springdale Drive, and traffic signal timing along both Broad and DeKalb streets; and

• strategic planning reports updates from city departments.

Council also held an executive session to discuss City Manager Kevin Bronson’s performance review, and to receive information on a personnel matter and potential property purchase, and legal counsel regarding a potential contractual matter and a zoning matter.
