Doctor Smith

Dr. LaShaune Smith (center), the daughter of Mary Smith of Camden and Nathaniel Smith of Blythewood, is hooded by her doctoral committee chairperson, Dr. Jan Yow (right) and Dr. Murray Mitchell, associate dean of the University of South Carolina’s (USC) Graduate School on Dec. 15, 2014 at the Koger Center in Columbia. Smith earned her doctoral of philosophy degree in secondary education. She received her bachelor of science degree in 1996 and her masters of industrial science in 2002, both from USC. She is also a 1992 Camden High School graduate. Smith taught high school mathematics for three and a half years. She also worked for 12 years in state government. She is currently a Central Carolina Technical College adjunct faculty member and will be transitioning back to academia full time. Smith has two children, DeLacera and Trinity.
