It would have been easy for Speedy Johnson to have stayed with his team’s game plan. But all that would have done would have been to have turned an easy win into an ugly victory.

As it turned out, the Spartans coasted to their 10th victory in 15 outings by dismantling visiting Easley Christian Academy, 101-48, in a conference game played Monday inside the White Field House on the CMA campus.

"We played well. Our reserves played well," Johnson said following his team’s fourth straight victory.

"We worked on our zone defense in this game. If we played them in our man-to-man, full-court pressing defense, it would have gotten ugly quick.

"I played everybody I had on my bench in this game and they all played well. I didn’t want to run the score up against Easley. I’m long past doing that."

Andrew Holbert led CMA with 18 points followed by Juwan Rorie with 16, Giovanni Arrindell with 13, John Cornett 12’s and 10 more points from Stephen Thomas. Reid Daniel added nine points while Bobby Gary and Ernest Perry had eight points apiece with Patrick Mulligan adding seven.

"We’re playing well," Johnson said of his team’s recent win streak. "We have to get ready for a big conference game coming up against Prince Avenue Prep next Tuesday."
