The Camden Junior Welfare Leauge’s 2015 provisional members are (from left) Lauren Smith, Tessa Cunningham, Kim Talbert, Jessica Geiger, Dawn Carnell, Emily Huggins, Amanda Butler, Caitlin Corbett and Amy Stegner.

The Camden Junior Welfare League (CJWL) announces its new members of the 2015 provisional class.

CJWL inducted the new members during its March meeting.

“This year’s provisional class is a phenomenal group of women and the Camden Junior Welfare League is lucky to have them as active members,” CJWL President Elizabeth Triplett said. “These women represent active members of the community and are very involved with community service throughout Kershaw County.”

The provisional class completed the CJWL’s signature project “Belle of the Ball.” This project allowed Kershaw County high school students in need the opportunity to pick out a beautiful prom dress at no expense with shoes and jewelry to match.

Triplett said the whys and hows of the girls’ situation are not important but their ability to feel beautiful during their prom is all that matters. The CJWL makes this a reality, she said. The 2015 CJWL class is required to plan everything from decorations, theme, door prizes, donations and refreshments. In one day, more than 40 girls were matched with their prom dress.

CJWL will host an open house for new prospective members on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert Mills Courthouse. For more information about becoming a member please email
