The KershawHealth Board of Trustees will look over March’s financials during its meeting tonight at the Health Resource Center on Battleship Road in Camden. KershawHealth Executive Vice President and COO/CFO Mike Bunch is scheduled to discuss March’s finances, including the impact of a cost report settlements, disproportionate share reimbursements and a LiveWell grant had to March’s bottom line.

Board Vice Chair Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom is scheduled to provide her regular quality of care report, while CEO Terry Gunn and Board Chair Karen Eckford offer their regular reports.

In executive session, the board will, among other topics, receive further legal advice regarding the pending lease/sale of KershawHealth to Capella Healthcare of Franklin, Tenn., which will operate the hospital with MUSC Health, the patient care arm of the Medical University of South Carolina.

A letter of intent signed by all parties in December originally set a closing date for the deal of March 31. According to a KershawHealth press release issued after the board’s March 23 meeting, the letter of intent has been extended to May 31. The extension was effected, according to the press release, in order for KershawHealth, Kershaw County, Capella and MUSC Health to conduct further due diligence.

Also during the executive session, trustees are expected to receive and vote on a medical staff report and discuss an as yet unspecified personnel matter.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
