Hank Kerfoot, founder and president of Modern Turf-U.S.A., based in Rembert, is featured in the May/June issue of Turf News. The magazine is a publication of Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) reaching those involved with sod production in more than 40 countries worldwide.

In a press release, TPI described Kerfoot as “an innovative business entrepreneur who is also active in giving back to the community and the turfgrass industry.” The article, “Hank Kerfoot - 100 Percent Renaissance Man,” profiles these activities.

According to TPI, Modern Turf has sod production fields in Dalzell as well as Rembert, and a landscape supply center in Blythewood. Currently, the company is growing 13 varieties of turfgrass; providing sod to the landscaper/contractor, home lawn, golf course and sports field markets in 11 states and shipping washed turfgrass sprigs to 11 countries overseas.

The company’s Modern Turf Care division is home of the “100 Percent Lifetime Guarantee,” according to the press release, a new concept for the lawn care industry. TPI said Kerfoot is widely recognized for his “clever marketing initiatives” via TV spots and YouTube and for his focus on 100 percent client satisfaction.

According to the press release, Kerfoot serves on the TPI board of trustees and on the board of the South Carolina Turfgrass Foundation. He is past president of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and currently on the board of the Rembert Area Community Coalition, according to the press release.

TPI is an independent, not-for-profit association comprised of more than 700 turfgrass sod and seed producers, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and other professionals involved in turf-related education and research. TPI has members in more than 40 countries worldwide.
