The KershawHealth Board of Trustees will meet tonight. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Health Resource Center on Battleship Road in Camden.

Trustees will receive a quality update and report from Vice Chair Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom, a chief executive officer report from CEO Terry Gunn, a contract committee report from Trustee Derial Ogburn and a report from Board Chair Karen Eckford on June’s proposed meeting schedule.

June 30 is the revised expiration date for a letter of intent between KershawHealth; Kershaw County; Capella Healthcare of Franklin, Tenn.; and MUSC Health, the patient care arm of the Medical University of South Carolina. The letter of intent will have Capella lease the hospital’s real estate for 40 years and purchase its other assets for $36 million. Capella would then operate KershawHealth in collaboration with MUSC Health, which also operates Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville.

The board will meet in executive session at the end of the meeting to receive an update and legal advice regarding the Capella/MUSC transaction. It will also discuss a physician services contractual matter.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public.
